World Environment Day

June 05, 2025

St. Joseph High School observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 with a series of meaningful activities to raise awareness about environmental conservation and the importance of sustainable living. The day’s events were coordinated by Ms. Shalini Lobo, who played a key role in organizing and guiding the program. During the morning assembly, Ms. Lobo addressed the students on the importance of protecting our natural surroundings and encouraged everyone to become responsible stewards of the Earth. This was followed by an inspiring message by Rev. Father Leo Periera SJ, who emphasized the significance of World Environment Day and spoke about the urgent need to "Beat Plastic Pollution," in alignment with this year's global theme. He reminded students of their role in reducing plastic usage and promoting eco-friendly alternatives. To mark the occasion, two saplings were planted within the school campus as a symbol of commitment towards a greener future. In a special initiative, students of Grade 9 led an awareness procession around the school premises, holding placards and chanting slogans to spread environmental awareness among their peers. The program concluded with a campus clean-up drive, where students took part in cleaning the school ground, reinforcing the message that a clean environment begins with individual action. The day was a great success and served as a reminder that every small step counts in the mission to protect our planet.
